St. John’s College has an admissions application process that puts an emphasis on the application essay. We know writer’s block is no fun, so some of the staff at the admissions office asked some current undergraduates to share what they wrote in their application. We found the responses warmhearted and genuine; we hope you find them helpful.

Seems like a bad idea to include a significant portion of an actual admission essay in the ‘header image’ for this post. Was this particular essay chosen because it was a good example to be emulated? Or a cautionary example to be avoided? Was it used with the permission of its author?
